THE POSSIBILITY OF OBSERVING THE PRINCIPLES OF SUFFRAGE AS A NECESSARY PREREQUISITE FOR HOLDING THE FIRST POST-WAR ELECTIONS IN UKRAINE

Abstract

The author analyzes the concept of «principles of suffrage» is analyzed, the basic principles of suffrage are analyzed: the principle of free elections, the principle of equal elections, the principle of general elections, the principle of direct elections, the principle of secret ballot, the impossibility of holding elections under the legal regime of martial law is substantiated, and the expediency of holding the first post-war elections in Ukraine in compliance with democratic norms, international standards and principles of suffrage is emphasized. Purpose. The work is aimed at analyzing the basic principles of suffrage and the possibility of observing these principles during elections in Ukraine only after the end of the legal regime of martial law. Methods. Within the framework of this scientific article, such general scientific research methods as analysis and synthesis were used. Much attention is paid to the comparative and systematic approach, the chronological method. Research results. To reveal the meaning of the concept of «principles of suffrage», to analyze the basic principles of suffrage: the principle of free elections, the principle of equal elections, the principle of general elections, the principle of direct elections, the principle of secret ballot, the impossibility of holding elections under the legal regime of martial law is substantiated and the expediency of holding the first post-war elections in Ukraine in compliance with democratic norms, international standards and principles of suffrage is emphasized.
