GEOPOLITICAL RISKS AND CHALLENGES IN THE IMPLEMENTATION OF THE “ONE BELT, ONE ROAD” PROJECT AND MEASURES TO OVERCOME THEM

Abstract

The "Belt and Road Initiative" is a global project aimed at creating an integrated network of transport, trade, and financial connections among countries in Eurasia, Africa, and other regions. However, the implementation of this large-scale project is accompanied by numerous geopolitical risks and challenges, including regional conflicts, trade disputes, geostrategic competition, and instability within participating countries. This article examines the key geopolitical risks associated with the project and highlights their impact on the implementation of the Belt and Road Initiative. It analyzes international experience in risk management for similar multilateral projects and proposes measures to minimize the influence of geopolitical challenges. Among the proposed solutions are strengthening diplomatic cooperation, optimizing investment strategies, improving international security mechanisms, and establishing stable intergovernmental platforms for dialogue. The findings of the study contribute to a deeper understanding of the geopolitical dimensions of the Belt and Road Initiative and can be utilized to develop strategies for international cooperation aimed at ensuring the initiative's successful implementation.
