STRATEGIES FOR INCREASING THE EFFICIENCY OF THE WORK OF LOCAL GOVERNMENT BODIES BASED ON THE USE OF THE RESPONSIBLE POLICY APPROACH

Abstract

This article examines current challenges and opportunities for improving the activities of local governments in the context of decentralization and democratization of governance. The main focus is on the concept of responsible politics as a key approach to ensuring transparency, accountability and efficiency of decision-making at the local level. The study substantiates that responsible politics contributes not only to increasing the level of citizens’ trust in government, but also to strengthening the institutional capacity of local governments. The article proposes a systematic approach to implementing strategies based on the principles of responsible politics. Among them are: involving citizens in the decision-making process, implementing e-government, improving the system of monitoring and evaluating the activities of local governments, as well as expanding partnerships between government, business and the public sector. Special attention is paid to the integration of public control mechanisms and the development of strategic plans for the development of territorial communities. The article also contains an analysis of successful practices of implementing responsible politics in different regions of Ukraine and abroad, which can be adapted to local conditions. It is emphasized that the implementation of such strategies contributes to a more efficient use of community resources, a reduction in corruption, and an improvement in the quality of public service provision. As a result, the article concludes that the use of a responsible policy approach is a strategically important step for the development of sustainable, effective, and transparent local governments that are able to flexibly respond to modern social challenges.
