FEATURES OF THE FUNCTIONING OF CIVIL SOCIETY INSTITUTIONS IN TERRITORIAL COMMUNITIES (EXPERIENCE OF IVANO-FRANKIVSK REGION)

Abstract

The article examines models of effective activity of civil society institutions within territorial communities, using the Ivano-Frankivsk region as a case study. It reveals the theoretical and methodological foundations of civil society and describes its structure and functions. The specificity of the activities of public organizations, volunteer initiatives, and political parties is analyzed in the context of decentralization processes, along with their role in ensuring social cohesion, transparent governance, and democratic community development. Through statistical analysis, the structure of the civic sector and party activity at the local level is presented, allowing for the identification of patterns and problematic areas. Particular attention is paid to the work of volunteer organizations as vital agents of social mobilization and solidarity, especially in times of crisis. The article emphasizes effective approaches to organizing the work of civil society institutions, highlights best practices from communities in the Prykarpattia region, and offers recommendations for improving the effectiveness of cooperation between the public and local self-government. This comprehensive approach not only diagnoses the current state but also outlines promising directions for local community development through enhanced civic participation. The study presents successful examples of interaction between the civic sector and local authorities and outlines the factors influencing the effectiveness and sustainability of civic initiatives, including digitalization, institutional capacity, and inclusivity. Generalized recommendations are provided for improving the effectiveness of cooperation between local self-government bodies and civil society institutions for the sustainable development of territorial communities.
