FIRST SPEECHES OF V. ZELENSKYY TO WORLD LEADERS. UKRAINIAN CHURCHILL

Abstract

The article examines the first public speeches of the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy. Speeches from the first two months of the Ukrainian- Russian war are analyzed. There are two types of such speeches – appeals to citizens of Ukraine and to leaders and residents of other countries. This intelligence is devoted to speeches of the second type. The texts of all speeches are analyzed from the point of view of military propaganda. When analyzing the speeches of the President of Ukraine, the concepts of propaganda and manipulation, which are inherent in political appeals, are key. Often these two words are incorrectly used as synonyms. The purpose of propaganda is always the result of some action, behavior: struggle for power or faith, support of the party or government in general. Instead, manipulation is the distortion of information, the presentation of a false picture of the world in the minds of people, the creation of "artificial needs" (which in reality we do not need, but the manipulator claims that this "something" is necessary for us). This type of activity is used to force action in the desired direction for the manipulator. The manipulator is well aware of needs and weaknesses, fears and complexes, he understands in what way to say or present information to provoke action. He will also choose the appropriate circumstances and place for it to be most effective.
